Aaron Jones, Green Bay Packers Fold the Dallas Cowboys to Advance to Divisional Round

Jordan Love and Aaron Jones combine for six touchdowns as the Green Bay Packers cruise to a 48-32 Wild Card victory to send the Cowboys home packing at AT&T Stadium on Sunday.

Green Bay led 34-10 midway through the third quarter after Aaron Jones ran for a 9-yard touchdown. The Packers would only look to keep their foot on the gas as they would score two more touchdowns to put the game out of reach advance to the Divisional round.

The rushing and passing game were hitting on all cylinders for Green Bay, as the Packers offense totaled for 415.

Aaron Jones continued his dominance against the Dallas Cowboys by recording 118 rushing yards on 19 carries for 3 touchdowns. In his previous three games versus the Cowboys, Jones has 370 rushing yards on 62 carries with 6 touchdowns.

“I can’t say enough great things about [Aaron Jones] the football player,” said head coach Matt LaFleur. “What he means to our team. The leadership he brings. He’s a rare guy”.

Jones’ three touchdowns tie him with the most scored by a player in a playoff game in Green Bay Packers history.

Jordan Love was impressive in his postseason debut throwing for 272 yards on 16-21 passing with 3 touchdowns. Love conducted the Packers offense to go on five straight touchdown scoring drives from 14:15 in the 2nd quarter to 10:23 in the 4th quarter.

“Can’t say enough about how proud I am of everybody in the locker room,” said Jordan Love. “It’s been a long season. We’ve been counted out a lot of the season, so just the way everybody keeps battling, keep competing. Getting better and putting on great performances like tonight. It’s a great feeling”.

In his first season as the starting QB for the Green Bay Packers, Love finished 7th in the NFL with 4,159 passing yards and 2nd in the league with 32 passing TDs.

“We’ve believed in [Jordan Love] from the beginning,” said Aaron Jones. “We know it’s a process. It’s not all on him why we couldn’t pick up a first down [earlier in the season]. It’s all eleven across the board. We all got to be on the same page, and I think you just seen that happening now”.

Romeo Doubs added 151 receiving yards on 6 receptions with a TD.

On the defensive side of the ball, Green Bay kept Dallas in check for most of the game. Dallas only scored one touchdown in the first half and had 16 total points at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Jaire Alexander showcased why he is considered one of the best cornerbacks in the league by intercepting a pass in the 1st quarter and securing seven total tackles.

Darnell Savage assisted the defensive effort by scoring a touchdown after an interception in the 2nd quarter and added four tackles with a pass deflection.

Keisean Nixon had 11 total tackles, a sack, and two pass deflections.

Though in defeat, Dallas was led by Dak Prescott, who recorded 403 passing yards on 41/60 passing with three touchdowns and two interceptions. Prescott had an uncharacteristic performance against the Packers defense struggling to take care of the ball and get the ball in the hands of CeeDee Lamb.

Lamb totaled for nine receptions for 110 yards, but only 18 yards in the 1st half.

Michael Gallup assisted the Cowboys offense with six receptions for 103 yards, meanwhile Jake Ferguson had 10 receptions for 93 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The Dallas defense also struggled against the young Packers offense by giving up the most points they allowed all season. Dallas allowed 18.5 points per game throughout this season, but gave up 20 points on Green Bay’s first four drives.

The Cowboys haven’t defeated the Packers in the playoffs since 1996 and have lost their past five matchups.
