Thursday night football for week two should be a good one as we have the Minnesota Vikings (0-1) traveling to play the Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) at . Both teams were at the top of the NFC conference last year with the Eagles finishing 14-3 and the Vikings with a 13-4 record in the regular season.
The Vikings opened with a 20-17 loss against a defensive Tampa Bay Buccaneers team. Minnesota quarterback Kirk Cousins was successful through the air, throwing for 344 yards and 2 touchdowns, but the Vikings struggled to run ball with only 41 rushing yards. Rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison did welcome himself to the team with a 39-yard touchdown, his first of his career. Turnovers looked to be a slight issue for the Vikings as they lost two fumbles and Cousins threw one interception compared to the Buccaneers 0 turnovers.
The Eagles began the season with a close 25-20 win against the New England Patriots. Philadelphia is one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl, but were not very impressive on Sunday. The offense struggled with only 154 passing yards, 97 rushing yards and going 4-for-13 on third down. While New England is known for their solid rushing attack, Philadelphia’s defense also gave up 316 passing yards to Mac Jones and the Patriots on Sunday. Despite it not being the best win for the Eagles, opening in Foxborough is a tough draw and I have no concerns for them in the future.
Vikings at Eagles (eagles -6.5) Game Prediction:
The last time the Eagles and the Vikings faced off was last season in Week 2, where Philadelphia had a dominant 24-7 win. The Vikings were one of the bottom defensive teams in the league last year, but did add some key pieces to the defense in cornerback Byron Murphy Jr. and Marcus Davenport. Davenport was inactive in week one, but may return on Thursday night. Minnesota is going to be in a tough spot if they start 0-2, especially with the Lions and the Packers looking impressive in week one. With the Eagles at home and with all the talent they have, I do not expect Minnesota to win this game. It may be close early, but Philadelphia will pull away. Give me the Eagles to win 24-13.
